CarHagglers
Top Tips!
CarHagglers
have an acronym to describe our haggling approach: SPRCC
- or "Spark", which stands for:
Simple Simple:
This means keep it simple, and clear. People so often over-complicate haggling,
and in doing so do themselves a disservice as they play into the seller's hands.
An example with cars is optional extras. Dealers like to make them part of a
haggle, because they of course cost them much less than the selling price. Extras
should be decided upon and agreed before haggling commences so that the negotiating
is simply about price and nothing else. Polite: There
is sometimes a macho approach to haggling that can turn it into a battle. We
believe in being civil, courteous, and honest, and we believe that such anapproach
achieves better results. Calm: Remain
calm and emotionally detached from a negotiation. This is key, and why a third
party like ourselves can be better placed than the actual purchaser to get a
good deal. This also means being prepared to walk away if necessary. Realistic: It
serves no purpose to open with a completely unachievable target, and can make
you appear to be a timewaster. Charge: This
means remember who is in charge! It is you who is spending the money, and the
seller who wants it. People can play a subordinate role when dealing with somebody
(such as a car salesman) who has greater knowledge of the subject. Letting the
salesman be in control means not getting the best deal! It helps if you have
an outgoing personality but anybody can be trained to approach a haggle with
a positive mental attitude. Or
best of all, keep things easy and achieve a great rsult by getting CarHagglers
to do it all for you!
